Introducing Lake Como Chiropractor Dr. Joseph Gulotta

The Chiropractor To See in Lake Como

Thanks to a sports injury I was introduced to chiropractic.

I recall going to a chiropractor when I was 11 or 12 years of age but do not remember many of the details. It wasn't until I was 15 when I began going to a chiropractor, Dr. Dean Gallagher, did this great concept in health hit me where it changed my life. To me it was amazing how people benefited from care that just involved adjustments to the spine. Most of us are used to traditional medicine that goes by the logic that if you are sick you must take something or have surgery to stop the symptoms. The whole new concept that if the body is given the proper environment, for example structural and chemical balance, it is a self healing organism. That is what fascinated me most about chiropractic and sparked my interest enough to seek out a career in this profession. As chiropractors we affect the spinal structure Proper education on chiropractic is what changed my life where my education was directed towards learning how the body and nervous system functions.

I went to Muhlenberg College for my undergraduate for two main reasons. First, they had an excellent pre-med program and secondly had a great soccer team. I received by B.S. in Biology and finished all the pre chiropractic classes at Muhlenberg so all I needed to do was apply and hopefully get accepted. Meanwhile, while I was applying for Life Chiropractic University, I tried out for a professional soccer team and was one of the 200+ players to make it as a walk-on. I played for two years and then decided my other goal was on hold so I "retired" from soccer and went to Life. The education I received from Life further opened my eyes to the power of chiropractic and how I could make a difference in patients lives and their health.

The purpose of my practice is not only to help people get out of pain but to educate them on to the proper way to stay healthy. It is my goal to educate as many people as possible about the benefits of proper chiropractic care and nutrition so we can slowly change the way Americans view health. Once we have determined that a patient can be helped they are given an individualized treatment plan that suits their condition. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing a patient go from a state of pain to a state of health.

I usually get adjusted 2-4 times a month for maintenance. It really depends on my activity level and how I feel. I often say to my patients when you become in tune with your body it will let you know when to get adjusted. For those that are new to chiropractic and have symptoms it is a learning process when trying to listen to your body. I am usually very strict during the week with my diet and usually will splurge a little on the weekends.
